Who is this course for:
This course is suitable for those who work with groups in a paid or non-paid capacity. It would also suit those who intend to work with groups in the future.
Outline of course content:
This course covers:
• The definition of ‘facilitation’
• Managing groups and understanding group dynamics
• Facilitating group exercises
• Understanding what motivates people to join community groups
• How groups become inclusive or exclusive
Course aims:
The course aims to introduce participants to the principles of community facilitation and to give them the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills to effectively manage a group.
Possible progression routes:
At the end of the course participants will be offered the opportunity to explore what UPC programmes would be of interest to them. Many participants progress to OCN Level 3 in Community Development or OCN Level 3 in Community Relations.

• Each learner will also have the opportunity to practice a short facilitation session and receive peer and tutor feedback
