Who is the course for:
This course is designed to introduce individuals and groups to equality and human rights issues relevant to Northern Ireland and beyond. The course is suitable for individuals, groups, service providers, employers and organisations from all sectors who are interested in diversity issues and a shared future.
Outline of course content:
Groups can choose from at least one of the following units:
• Equality Legislation
• Human Rights Act in Northern Ireland
• Introduction to Equality and Human Rights
• Policy Development to promote Equality and Human Rights
• The Relationship between Equality and Human Rights and Conflict in Society.
Course aims:
The course aims to introduce participants to human rights and equality issues, legislation and best practice.
Possible progression routes:
At the end of the course participants will be given the opportunity to explore what UPC programmes would be of interest to them. Many participants progress to OCN Level 3 in Community Development or OCN Level 3 in Community Relations.
