Considerable media attention has already been paid to the initial work of the Consultative Group on the Past, co-chaired by Lord Robin Eames and Denis Bradley.  The UPC welcomes the consultation and firmly believes that learning about the past and addressing the legacy of the past is absolutely central to the process of building a shared future.

There is a need for us as a society to develop a narrative that allows us to talk and live together.  This narrative needs to include different needs in relation to truth:  the facts, personal stories, communal understandings of the past and a shared, collective truth that promotes empathy, accommodates difference and offers healing. This includes the need for us as a society to address the difficult and often painful issues about the conflict itself.  To read more click here.
