Who is this course for:
This course is suitable for a wide range of groups and individuals and may be of interest to students who wish to complement similar studies.  It may also be of particular interest to people from beyond Northern Ireland.


Outline of course content:
This course covers:
• Political parties in Northern Ireland
• The nature of community division
• Competing historical understandings of the conflict
• The origins and developments of the peace process


Course aims:
The course aims to explore the political parties, key events and relationships that have shaped Northern Ireland and investigate the competing understandings and ideologies that finally lead to the current arrangements.


Possible progression routes:
At the end of the course participants will be given the opportunity to explore what UPC programmes would be of interest to them.
